Bees, Nature and Gentle Escape text over a vibrant wildflower prairie with tiger lily and purple blooms

A Little About Us

Little Hives on the Prairie is a small scale, hands on beekeeping project rooted in respect for bees, land, and people. Every hive is managed with low impact, natural methods that put bee health first and avoid harsh chemicals or industrial shortcuts.

The focus is simple: strong bees, honest honey, and real connection to the land. Our hives are cared for with close observation, seasonal rhythm, and traditional sense. No factory style farming. No fake “natural” branding. Just real work with living systems.

From raw prairie honey to our hand crafted HivePod to education and pollinator awareness, Little Hives on the Prairie exists to remind people where food, medicine, and sweetness actually come from. From flowers, from soil, and from the quiet labor of bees… ..beekeeping shaped by wind, wildflowers, and a lot of heart. Our honey reflects Manitoba landscape; rich, floral, and unmistakably prairie. We’re not a factory. We’re not commercial scale. We’re a hand-built, home grown and heart-led prairie apiary.

Our hives exist with gratitude on Treaty 1 and Treaty 2 Territory, in the traditional homelands of the Anishinaabe and Cree, within the Métis Homeland. Rooted in the South Central Manitoba prairie.

Our mission is to protect pollinators, celebrate prairie ecology, and produce honest, high-quality honey while educating others about the importance of bees. We believe in clean hive health, natural forage, and building community through sustainable beekeeping.
